Ocean Blue Adventures
Wild Wight Adventure Ride
Short mackerel trips (1 hour ) out to the tide race off St Lawrence
or Bonchurch. Ideal for first time 'fishers' and great for families with
children who want to catch some fish for the BBQ.
The south coast of the island has long been regarded as one of the best mackerel
fishing grounds in England, with mackerel regularly seen in the summer splashing
at the surface. On early summer mornings you may see a strip of shiny whitebait
and sand eels just above the high tide mark. This is where the mackerel have
chased the tiny fish up onto the beach as the tide is going out.
Mackerel fishing has proved very popular with families where children enjoy
learning where real fish actually comes from and how it is caught. If you don't
fancy fishing - bring a book or simply enjoy the fresh sea air and breathtaking
views of the Undercliff.
All fishing kit and lifejackets are supplied. Remember to bring a jumper on even
the warmest days. Waterproofs are available if required.
